METALLICA!!!

A BIG checkbox on the checklist of my life was checked off this last Friday as I got to finally see my most favorite metal band live in southern California with my good friend, Marlon. They are on tour to support their latest metal opus, Death Magnetic. I have been a fan of these guys since I was probably 14 and they have rocked the metal scene since 1981. Staci and Miles came with me to see Marlon and Suzana and their son Donnie. The women and children wisely stayed at home while the men braved the drunken chaos and anarchy that was so strongly present at this show to experience thrash metal in its purest, most breathtaking form...Metallica. I have been blessed with being able to experience quite a few live concerts in my life but none of them have found me as excited as this one. Not only the band's performance and setlist, but also the show's production value was out of this world. The concert was held in Ontario, California at a new arena that is used for hockey and basketball games. The arena was not very big but could still fit a ton of people. The show was unique for me in that the stage was in the middle of the floor and allowed all to see the performances from all angles. The most intimate arena show I've ever seen. The drummer had his drum set in the middle of the stage and his area would rotate every so many songs so that he could face every angle in the arena. Also, there were mic stands all around the stage so that the guys could sing and face any angle in the arena as well. We did not have floor seats but still felt very close to the stage considering the fact that we were seated. It was a very cool venue and Metallica spared no expense in putting every special effect possible in to it. There were fire balls, lasers, giant rotating coffins that hung from the ceiling... It was very cool. Anyways, I could go on and on...please, enjoy the pics and vids.
