Fun with Mother Heinzen

Here are some pics from a recent visit (a month ago - yeah, I know, we're kind of slow on the posts) from Mica's mom, Alex. She came to see her daughter who lives so very, very far away (thanks to me) and we loved having her!

While she was here she converted Mica (and me, consequently) to a new "nutritional lifestyle". We now eat salads that are as big as my face. But, hey, I feel better already! It's actually been nice eating more earthy foods. We've tried to cut out as much processed wheat and sugar as possible. I'm trying to cut all ice cubes out of my diet as well.

Here is our new produce-friendly refrigerator. We are still trying to decide whether or not to use only hormone-free meat and milk. It's actually an ongoing debate that Mica and I are having. I think that I am losing.

And then here's our new trundle bed. It has two mattresses. One is underneath that you can pull out and hook up to the other mattress for a double bed. This is where Alex stayed and YOU can too if you come and visit us! Mica and Alex found some great colors to spice up the bed. Blue and orange are my fav colors.

I am going back on this kind of diet also. I feel so much better, more energetic, more calm and focused when I watch what I eat. Your mom is such an inspiration, Mica!! I love her dearly.

Hormone free milk and meat is the vote from me! We didn't pay attention to that when I was growing up (we didn't think about it) and almost all of us developed early. I think it was the hormones. Katie got breast buds at 15 months and the doctor told us to cut out milk and meat with hormones and in three months they were gone. Way to go for healthier living. I need to more of that too. And what is bad about ice? I generally don't use it, but when it is really hot, I love a glass of ice water. I would love to know too!

Oh boy, my ice cube joke flew under the radar this time. I actually do prefer to have my drinks just chilled without ice but I made a joke of it in this post because of a story a missionary companion of mine told me once. He used to work in the catering department at the church office building in Salt Lake City. He noticed one time when he was serving the General Authorities that several of them would refuse to have ice cubes added to their drinks. Interesting, huh? So I used to joke after hearing that story that abstaining from ice cubes was part of the higher law of the word of wisdom. The End.
