Carolina Country

Mica and I are headed to North Carolina!! I accepted East Carolina University's offer to study in their doctoral program. I'll be studying medical family therapy which is an up and coming part of the marriage and family therapy field. Basically, I'll be trained to conduct research on topics involving health, illness, marriage, and family. Also, they'll train me to work with doctors in diagnosing couples and individuals who may be suffering mental anguish as a result of chronic illness and such. If you want more details, you'll have to call me!

Take a look at the campus. It's a beautiful place on the east side of North Carolina about an hour away from the beaches. There are about 25, 000 students that attend with the medical school being the most prominent program. The best part is that Greenville, the city we'll be living in, is about 6 hours away from the family! That's definitely easy enough for a weekend. Greeville is also an hour east of Raleigh which has an airport and a temple.

I had options to interview at Texas Tech University and the University of Georgia but decided to take East Carolina because they offered more financial support and had a nicer climate. I interviewed at the University of Nebraska which I really liked but was told that I was on a waiting list. That basically means that they liked me but decided to offer positions to other students ahead of me. :( Oh, well! Mica and I feel really good about going back east. We'll be there for at least two years with the chance of a third year. Thanks to all of you who prayed for us while I interviewed and while we made this decision together.
